On this edition of the Sound of Industry podcast, we finally get around to discussing the music of the Akron Sound. Specifically, we dive into the early days of the scene with bands like Devo, the Numbers Band, and the Rubber City Rebels. It's also a podcast about Northeast Ohio in the 1970's, so there are also some stories about organized crime and labor strikes. Naturally.
On part two of the Sound of Industry, we discuss the history of music in Northeast Ohio prior to the Akron Sound scene, including the rise and fall of legendary DJ Alan Freed, guitar virtuoso Joe Walsh, and some of the players resting just outside of the scene, like The Cramps and The Pretenders.

On this episode, in order to make it up to our listeners for putting out an episode on fantasy football, we decided it was time to endure something painful. So, over the past several days, Brad had to enter the Gauntlet of Trash, a marathon of ten truly horrible horror films that he had not seen before, and it certainly lived up to that moniker.
On this episode, we delve into part one of the experience. You have an incomprehensible Joe D'Amato shark movie in Deep Blood, Lucio Fulci phoning it in with House By the Cemetery, legitimate contender for worst movie ever made in Things, Michele Soavi's directorial debut Stagefright, and the incredibly bizarre New Zealand splatterfest Death Warmed Up.
Please keep in mind that this was the GOOD section of the marathon. It only gets worse on part two.
Much worse.
Enjoy!

In the late 1970's, Northeast Ohio was quickly becoming a driving force in underground music. Bands like Devo, Pere Ubu, The Dead Boys, and The Waitresses were quickly garnering international recognition, with legendary Stiff Records even putting out The Akron Compilation to shine a light on the area. It was all so amazing... until it wasn't. The ride was over almost as soon as it started.
So, what happened? Well, to answer that question, we have to understand where it all came from. On this first episode of the Sound of Industry, we will be examining the history of Northeast Ohio, a weird Rust Belt relic that acted as the breeding ground for so much musical innovation.

On this edition of the Queen Venerator Weekly Roundup, we were going to discuss some fun, bad movies, but instead we got sidetracked by fantasy football nonsense. We discuss the ups and downs of fantasy football, the massive amount of fantasy football podcasts out there, and the worst fantasy league ever conceived: The Chop Top.

We're back again with Sean Doherty to discuss Alex de la Iglesia's 1997 film Perdita Durango aka Dance with the Devil, but we mostly use it as an excuse to discuss a bunch of other stuff. Takashi Miike, "extreme" movies, Bob Clark, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Ghostbusters 2... this is definitely a show of tangents.
On this episode of the Queen Venerator Roundup, we discuss more albums from 2021, including Loraine James, Olivia Rodrigo, Aaron Dilloway & Lucrecia Dalt, and Mdou Moctar.

On this episode, we talk to noted cultural historian/Young Lizard Gettin Money Sean Doherty about the semi-lost debut record by the Misfits, The Static Age.
We discuss the trials and tribulations leading to the record not being released, the unfortunate place Brad first heard "Last Caress", and a LOT of other off-topic stuff. Honestly, it's mostly off-topic stuff.
