Episode 30
As the weather gets colder (or not… thanks, climate change), curl up by the fire and celebrate spooky books with us! In this literary episode, your Q&L hosts discuss all things related to our lord and savior Stephen King, the medium of audiobooks, dream adaptations, dating grandpas, and so much more!
Tune in to hear Samantha actively dying of Captain Trips, Brett paying homage to our patron saints, and Mel giving unsolicited advice on how to raise your kids. People love hearing parenting advice from someone without children, right? Your favorite podcasters will also share how they got into horror novels and give some recommendations for those looking to dip their toes into the world of scary books.
As the old library posters said: “READ!”

Episode 29
For our first inaugural Halloween Special™, we figured, why not watch Halloween? Join your Q&L hosts Brett, Mel, and NOTmantha for this fun and festive foray into John Carpenter's Halloween (1978). In order to get a new perspective on an old movie, we invited Mama Bode to share her experiences as someone who was able to freshly experience this movie (in theaters!) when it was released.
In our first (and maybe only) wholesome episode, we chat about John Carpenter movies, discuss the legacy of this slasher classic, get a glimpse into Brett’s sheltered childhood, and hear about Mel’s JamesBondtober madness. Thank you to our first (but not last) GUESTmantha! And never fear, dear listeners--the One True Samantha will return next week.

Episode 28
The Q&L crew had the pleasure of seeing the 4k restoration of The Silence of the Lambs on the big screen at the historic Texas Theater. You might be thinking, “but Queer & Loathing, this is a thriller, not a horror movie,” and to that, we say, “shut up, loser.”
In this episode, Brett, Mel, and Samantha will discuss THE DISCOURSE, do some psychoanalyzing of their own, and say mean things about men. Listen for in-depth chatter about this classic, hear them talk all about Miss OfTheLambs, and tune in for a special guest appearance from a famous men's rights spokesman!

Pump it up and strap in for a long episode because we really just had too much to say about THE SUBSTANCE, the new release from rising star director Coralie Fargeat (pronounced the French way: far-gee-at).
Join your Q&L hosts as activate, stabilize, switch, and remember that they are one.

Episode 26
Trigger warning: this episode includes graphic descriptions of Br*tish cuisine. We understand if you need to skip this episode to protect your mental health. We hope you will join us again next week.
It’s the second movie in our “zom-com” double-feature! Join your Q&L hosts as they discuss Shaun of the Dead, the movie that brought Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg across the pond and into the American zeitgeist.
This week, Brett, Mel, and Samantha will discuss who is and isn’t allowed to say the c-word, the n-word, and even the zed-word. They dive into the minutia of Br*tish and zombie etiquette, from hiding bites to hiding feelings, and they finally tackle the age old question: “fellas, is it gay to date your girlfriend?”

Episode 25
It’s a zombie double feature! This week, the Q&L hosts tackle the first of their zombie movies with the directorial debut of Zelda Williams, daughter of beloved actor Robin Williams. Lisa Frankenstein (2024) has arrived on streaming, so it felt like a perfect time to check out this ambitious and divisive flop.
Which one(s) of your beloved hosts loved this movie and which one(s) hated it? Do your Q&L hosts have ideas on how to fix this movie’s problems (spoiler: they have many)? Has Samantha finally seen Jennifer’s Body? Can they grapple with the stank? Is pee stored in the balls? Listen to find out!

Episode 24
There’s been a coup! Samantha grabs the reins this week to lead the discussion for an especially traumatizing movie from her past. Saddle up with your Q&L hosts as they gallop into a discussion of the 2002 phenomenon “The Ring,” which is THE film our brave Samantha was most scared to cover going into this podcast.
Tune in to find out: does she still feel unbridled terror thinking about this American remake? Did it buck her expectations? Is she chomping at the bit to say her piece? If you want to find out the answers to these questions, race to your nearest podcast app!

Episode 23
Nope, not the new one. We are talking about the classic 1988 film “Beetlejuice” (singular) this time.
On a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice high and thirsting for more? Want to take a trip down nostalgia lane? Just want to hang out with your most (occasionally) correct podcast hosts? If so, join us for this deep dive into Tim Burton films, canceled actors, autumnal blessings, and attempts at script doctoring.
How many times can our lovable Q&L hosts say P******** in a single episode? Which of the three hosts loved this movie enough to actually see the sequel? Which host has a Tim Burton inspired tattoo? Which host is a devious gay like Otho? You can probably just guess those answers, but tune in anyway to find out for sure!

Episode 22
For this very special episode of Queer & Loathing, your stunning and brave hosts present their spiciest takes for your listening pleasure (or pain). We challenged Brett, Mel, and Samantha to select films they are willing to defend and, more impressively, willing to openly hate.

Episode 21
It only took 38 years, but the Alien franchise is BACK, baybeee!
Join our hosts for this existential episode of Q&L, where Mel rants about haters, Brett practices AVP erasure, and Samantha unlocks the next level of her horror fan status: night terrors!
So many dynamic questions will be posed during this episode. Like, how many video games can Mel possibly bring up? Fellas, are sequels gay? How much does Brett love CGI dead actors? Will this movie introduce more lore no one wants? Will Samantha be okay?
We promise to answer maybe some of those!
