In the second episode of Queer World Podcast, we meet Paula, one of the founder's of Vogue Fever; a ballroom and vogueing event in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Vogueing is a style of dance, art and performance that was created on the underground 'ballroom' scene between the 1960s and 1980s in USA. It has seen a resurgence in popularity in the 21st century, with shows like Pose sharing the stories based on the founders of these communities and shows like Legendary sharing stories of those continuing to celebrate the art and create chosen families today.
Paula and I sat down to talk about how she and her friends discovered and fell in love with vogueing, founded Vogue Fever, their lessons about the history of vogueing, the meaning of allyship and in turn what Paula has learned about herself.
This was an amazing conversation and I hope you enjoy listening. Remember to follow @voguefeverbh to see what Paula and her community are getting up to, the performances from their community are not to be missed!
Don't forget if you want to talk about the episode or think you know someone you think I should feature, find me on Insta: @queerworldpodcast or email me on [email protected]. Loads of love!
