In this episode, Micah speaks to the Chief of Staff at the Arizona House of Representatives, Michael Hunter, about the passing of House Bill 2241 – a bill that died, came back to life, and became the law of the land in the final hour.

HB2241 (also known as the Holocaust Education Bill) requires that all Arizona students receive education on the Holocaust and other genocides at least twice between 7th and 12th grade.

Jesus came to earth bringing new information about how human life works. It surpassed anything his hearers had heard, and it catalyzed a movement of love, joy and meaning that permeated the Roman Empire even as the political power tried brutally to stamp it out. We miss Jesus if we limit what he taught to "religion". 

In order to experience the life-transforming power of Jesus, we must first establish him as the master teacher for all of life.

In this episode, George Miley begins his teaching by sharing the story of a town in Eastern Europe, and how its people rounded up their Jewish neighbors to deport them to the death camp at Auschwitz in 1942. 70-years later, the people and leaders of that same town (Dolny Kubin, Slovakia) came together again, this time to publicly acknowledge the wrongs of the past, to ask for forgiveness, and to honor Israel and the Jewish people. What power is able to make such events possible? Jesus! He came so that we might become.

Welcome to the first edition of "Past, Present, & Future" a podcast by Quellen International. In this episode, Micah speaks to historian, professor, author, and pianist, Bill Niven, about his recent piano composition entitled "Roots".

Back in early 2020, artist and Holocaust educator Caroline Slifkin, along with Amy Williams, who just finished her Ph.D. on the memory of the Kindertransport, began working on a project entitled "Keepsakes of Kindertransport". Together they called on Kinder and their families as well as students and academics to contribute reflective art pieces. Bill Niven was one of the people they invited to contribute. Despite being mostly an improviser and hobbyist, Bill decided to compose a special instrumental to help tell the story of 10,000 brave children who escaped Nazi Germany by train.
