Christina is joined by Alana Johnson for this episode of Questions in Chaos to explore the topic of Residential Schools. How much information about Residential Schools do children need to have at their age? How do we talk to them about the Churches role in the running of Residential Schools? What, if anything, is our responsibility and the responsibility of our kids?
Alana is Haida and British-Canadian. She is a mother, daughter, sister, wife and friend and teaches music in the Greater Victoria School District. In 2019, she graduated with her Masters of Theological Studies - Indigenous through NAIITS, an Indigenous Learning Community.
In this episode we are answering the familiar question “why do we have to go to church??” Is “because I said so” a good enough reason? We want to offer a simple answer that can expand and develop as a child grows.
In this episode Leah and Christina are working through questions on the topic of prayer. How are we supposed to pray? How do we teach kids to pray? What if my child doesn’t want to pray? We are offering ideas on how to talk to your kids about prayer and how to help make talking to God a regular part of their everyday.
In this episode Leah and Christina chat about engaging in conversation with kids around the topic of heaven and hell (yikes!). While these conversations may seem intimidating, they can help develop a child’s understanding of what Jesus accomplished through the cross and the eternal hope that we have as followers of Jesus.
In this episode Leah and Christina chat about general concepts for communicating big truths about God to kids.
In this episode of Questions in Chaos Leah and Christina introduce themselves, chat about their vision for the podcast and share what you can expect from each episode.
