First Imagine going through this pandemic without the internet. It’s like a story from a dystopian movie. But we do have the internet and it’s enabled you to talk to your family and see their faces, order food straight to your door or work collaboratively with your work colleagues. We’re in a world where the internet has brought people together through tribes but also created echo chambers. These are the thoughts of Penny Power OBE, co-founder of Ecademy, the first social media platform for business established in 1998. Penny gives us a glimpse into the rise and fall of a tech business and how she desperately tried to cling on to her belief that business should be personal. Penny never let go of this belief and has now authored a book, Business is Personal. We also talk about how technology has been used in a cold unfriendly way and that it doesn’t have to be that way.
So here we go, Penny Power.
I'm Chris O'Hare your Quick Win CEO, as a CEO I've run businesses, founded startups, consultant for others and even won awards. But in this show, we'll be talking to entrepreneurs and experts to help you understand key concepts for your business along with 3 quick wins that you can take away and apply to your business today. Every week we'll be finding out about the entrepreneur themselves and diving into a different but important topic.
You can tell Penny has prevailed from some bumps in the road, it’s a great story. What did you think of Penny’s Quick Wins?
Quick Win Number 1, Invest your time into finding about your values, how you take care of yourself and understanding your character. Write down a list of things or people that make you feel happy or unhappy, motivated or stressed. Have the courage to embrace change.
Quick Win Number 2, Start noticing your happy moments throughout your day.
Quick Win Number 3, Surround yourself with a small community where you never have to pretend, either find one or build one.
But what was your favourite bit of this show? You can tell me on Clubhouse, Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok or youtube where you can find me with @haredigital. Remember there are several other podcasts available to listen to which you can find on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube. This week we’re talking about a topic that I would like to highlight as very important for entrepreneurs to get a grasp on, mental illness and mental performance. Let me just highlight why this is important.
Entrepreneurs are:
Twice as likely to suffer from depression, psychiatric hospitalization and suicidal thoughts
3X more likely to suffer from substance abuse
10X more likely to suffer from bipolar disorder
Now with stats like these the least, I can do is help break down the barrier to allow fellow entrepreneurs to talk. Business is hard, often requiring long hours and lonely days, and entrepreneurs absorb an incredible amount of stress.
You will have already heard about Mindfulness which is one tool in the battle against mental illness but there is another, Hypnotherapy. So this episode, my Hypnotherapist Dipti Tait, has kindly agreed to help us understand how we can hack our brains and give us the mental resilience to succeed. Dipti has been featured in the media including the BBC and This Morning talking about such. And even if you don’t feel like you’ll gain value from this episode please do me the kindness of sharing this episode with someone that might need it because you never know what they might be going through. So here we go, Dipti Tait.

What a powerful episode, one of the most important ones I’ve done. If this helps just one person, that’s a job well done for me. I really liked the science angle on how your brain gets out of balance including that iconic golden triangle of hormones. So Dipti’s quick wins are:
Quick Win Number 1, Understanding you are in control of your own mind and no one out there controls you.
Quick Win Number 2, Sleep! Make sure you’re sleeping properly.
Quick Win Number 3, Talk to yourself with kindness, turn the negative language into positive language.
Please share these quick wins with your network, you never know how it might impact someone's life.

This week we’re doing something a little bit different as we’ve hit our first 10 episode milestone, when I started this podcast I had no expectations. But for it to reach top 10 in the apple charts, blew my mind. But what also blew my mind was the love I’ve got from all my listeners and how much they found it valuable. It was totally unexpected, so thank you to everyone who have subscribed to the podcast and to the YouTube channel. But a special thank you to all those who have been kind enough to rate and review the show.
Here is one of my favourites from OAJ95
Chris has clearly spent a lot of time making sure he has created a podcast that is chock full of interesting information. It’s only been a few weeks and it feels like he’s really hit his stride. From Streamers to CEO’s he’s smashing it. If you’re a business owner, or if you want to be a business owner. Give it a listen.”
Thank you OAJ95 for your love.
If you also want to write a review, please do. I will make sure to give you a shout out in a future episode.
And of course, I have to thank all my guests, Tom Young, Spencer Ayres, Darren Fell, Melenie Schatynski, Toby Moore, Alex Chisnall, Josh Wallman, Johnathan Markwell, Simon Kimber and James Wood because without you all this podcast wouldn’t nearly be as valuable as it is. Thank you.
So in this episode, I’m going to combine all of the entrepreneurs quick wins for each one of the first 10 episodes into 1 episode. That way you can get a super quick dose of useful tips in one episode. And if you find any that resonate with you. Do go back and check them out.
So here we go…
I hope you loved that super quick dose of the entrepreneurs quick wins. There’s some iconic one for sure and some I’ve even used myself!
