In Part Three of The Dog of Flanders by Ouida, we see how deeply Patrasche has become part of Nello and his grandfather’s life.

Now healthy and strong, Patrasche pulls the little milk cart through the village, working faithfully beside Nello through the changing seasons. In summer and in winter, he carries the milk along the familiar roads.

But Patrasche’s kindness extends beyond his work. When some of the people in the village are in need, he helps bring them food or fuel. His strength becomes a quiet blessing to those around him.
