When Survival Mode Becomes Your Personality
What happens when the way you’ve lived your entire life no longer feels sustainable?
In this deeply personal first episode of Quiet Mirror Moments™, Deborah shares the moment she realised she had spent most of her life living in survival mode without even knowing it had a name.
After losing her partner Darron to cancer in 2018, Deborah kept herself constantly busy to avoid being alone with her grief.
Then Covid arrived, the distractions disappeared, and she found herself sitting on the floor rereading old journals, finally confronting the pain, self criticism, emotional exhaustion, and disconnection she had carried for years.
This episode explores:
• survival mode and emotional disconnection
• people pleasing and always being on high alert
• grief, heartbreak, and trying to hold everything together
• how life experiences shape self image
• reconnecting with yourself after loss
• self acceptance and emotional healing
• confidence, identity, and the mirror
• feeling beautiful from the inside out
• Quiet Mirror Moments™ and the whole woman
This is not a polished conversation.
It is a real one.
And yes… if you hear little background noises throughout the episode, that’s simply my dog walking in and out while I was recording.
I decided to leave it in because this podcast is about real life, real conversations, and creating a space where women do not need to be perfect to be heard.
Quiet Mirror Moments™ is where beauty meets healing, and healing meets your soul.
