“In the remembrance of Allah do hearts find peace.”

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings beupon him, said, “Two words are beloved to the Most Merciful. They are light on the tongue but heavy on the scale: Glory and praise to Allah, and glory toAllah the Almighty.”

O Allah, let us find tranquillity in Your remembrance and letYour nearness steady what distraction shakes within us. Ameen

O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and despair not of relief from Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people." Q12:87...

After years of grief and potential loss of what look likeunanswered du’a, pain and grief,

And yet… he says to his sons: “Do not despair of relief fromAllah.”

They said, “By Allah! You will not cease to remember Josephuntil you lose your health or ˹even˺ your life.”

 Prophet Ya’qub says,

“I complain of my sorrow only to Allah.” Yusuf, 12:86

He replied, “I complain of my anguish and sorrow only toAllah, and I know from Allah what you do not know.

Let us analyse this further:

There are two types of complain.

· Complain about Allah (Thistakes away the relationship of trust that you are trying to build with Allah)

· Complain to Allah  (A sacred place to pour you grief andcomplain)

The first one is an act of worship and the second one leads to despair

Allah gives us relief through this ayah:

“My success is only by Allah.”

Prophet Shu’ayb (AS) said, "My success is not butthrough Allah."

This is the ultimate stress-reliever. It means you are responsible for the effort (the "input"), but Allah isresponsible for the result (the "output").

Do not spread corruption in the land after it has beenset in order. And call upon Him with hope and fear. Indeed, Allah’s mercy is always close to the good-doers.

Reflect on these points:

a)  The command to honouryour responsibility as Khalifah which is one of the purpose of why you are created

b) Guidance on how to call Allah, so that you do not feel like your prayers are hitting a glass ceiling? Like Allah is "way over there" while you’re "down here"

c) Reminder of His Mercy and how close it is to the good doers,

Allah the most High said:

“I am as my servant thinks I am. I am with him when hementions Me. If he mentions Me to himself, I mention him to Myself and if he mentions Me in an assembly, I mention him in an assembly greater than it. If he draws near to Me a hand’s length, I draw near to him an arm’s length. And if he comes to Me walking I go to him at speed.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]

Today’s ayah talks about Allah guiding people

“to the paths of peace.” And Allah describes what Messengerbrought as:

· A light has now come to you from God, and a Scripture making things clear,

· through which Allah guides those who seek His pleasure to the ways of peace, brings them out of darkness and into light by His Will, and guides them to the Straight Path.

Allah is not trying to exhaust you

“Allah wants to lighten your burden, for mankind was created weak.” Q4:28

Human beings are created:

Weak - but capable of reliance

Hasty - but capable of patience

Forgetful - but capable of gratitude

Flawed - but deeply honoured
