Multiple professional societies have emphasized the importance of lowering LDL-C for the primary and secondary prevention of ASCVD and cardiovascular events. Though current guidelines recommend statins as the cornerstone of lipid-lowering therapies, many patients have insufficient response or intolerance to them and require non-statin therapies to achieve their individualized LDL-C goals.
