From the End of July, Aotearoa New Zealand will reopen to the world, with international students, cruise ships, and migrant workers welcome back into New Zealand. This comes with changes to immigration policy, that may be worsening what they set out to address. R1News spoke to Green MP Ricardo Menéndez March about the policy changes.

Last week was budget week, which saw a raft of policy announcements, including close to a billion dollars for disability advocacy. This funding will see the creation of a new Ministry for Disabled Peoples. The ACT party's recent "realchange" budget puts a heavy emphasis on gutting the public sector, with the libertarian party wanting to demolish over 25 government entities, which includes the Office for Crown-Māori relations and the Ministry for Māori Development, Te Puni Kōkiri. ACT has promised that key elements from both of these entities will come under different ministries, but that those ministries will not receive bigger budgets to cope with their bigger scope. Zac spoke to Māori politics expert Paerau Warbrick to investigate the impact Māori and government if Te Puni Kōkiri were abolished.

Zac spoke with associate professor Joanna Williams from the University of Otago's Anatomy Department about her new research into Alzheimers detection. The decade-long research has uncovered new blood molecules which can be used to spot Alzheimers before any memory-loss symptoms take hold, meaning a simple blood test could be developed to detect the cognitive disease.
