Rabt o ehteraaz to tabiyat hai insan ki

Jaise zulm o karam hai aadat aasmaan ki

Naqaab be naqaab woh zamaane kuchh aur they

Jab hoteen theen baaten sab yaqin o imaan ki

Aaj baaten  to hoteen hain per toleen nahin jaatin

Kya bhooley hain log haqeeqat us mizaan ki

Kabhi darja Rab ka milta tha ghar aaye mehman ko

Waqt woh lao aisi thi jab izzat har mehmaan ki

Vaaiz, shaikh to tab bhi they aaj bhi hain, magar

Bartar thi tab riza us khuda e mehrbaan ki

Bhool ahd e maazi ko asr e haal men aa, shaair

Sunata hai daastaanen tu kab or kahan ki

Har neem shab badalta hai sab kuchh ‘sahil’ aaj

Kya khabar nahin hai tujhe mizaaj e jahan ki
