On Season 3, Episode 6 of the Race To Speak Up Podcast, we are joined by Christina Varney, Angela Varney, and Barbara Buckley of Annie’s Kindness Blankets, a non-profit organization dedicated to #bethevoice and help stop the stigma surrounding depression and suicide.
In March, 2015 the Varney sisters lost their mom to depression. Through their grief and in honor of Annie's 35 years on earth, they made 35 "Kindness Blankets" to give to anyone that may be struggling, battling setbacks or just may need a reassuring "hug". The Varney sisters, their aunt, along with an army of volunteers, continue to "hug it forward" to remind anyone that may need it, that they are never alone. We talk about suicide prevention, speaking up, and how they spread kindness through their blankets

Hi, I’m Devin and welcome to Humanity Rising’s Race To Speak Up Podcast Series! It’s where we have open and engaging conversations about bullying prevention, how to be upstanders, and how we are making a positive difference in our communities.
For me, how I “Race To Speak Up” is by educating others about bullying prevention through my anti-bullying organization, #RaceToSpeakUp.
Join me on this journey as we spread our positive messages and how we are working towards a more empathetic world! The only question for you now is, How Do You Race To Speak Up?
