Mike Lauer, a veteran horseman, who has over 50 years of owning racehorses, 10,000 starts and $30 million plus in purses, shares his insights about owning race horses and having success at a reasonable cost. In some years, he has raced in as many as 9 states, so he knows the racing landscape. His horses span the spectrum, from Graded Stakes to base level claimers.

Mike Lauer, was one of the first trainers to be suspended for a Metformin Contamination positive test. That was before HISA revised its’ position to defer active suspensions for metformin positives in June ’24. The practical information Mike shares on casual contamination is very informative for racehorse owners.
