Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called out the Trump Admin in a recent interview for making statements “about the need to end the war,” but then refusing to revoke the Biden Admin’s sanctions against Russia and continuing to add new measures, including waging war against “tankers on the high seas.”

Lt. Col. Daniel Davis, a U.S. Combat Veteran and National Security Analyst, noted that while Washington and Moscow may be participating in talks, NATO is sending Russia endless signals that it has no plans to end its proxy war, and will continue seeking conflict, even if a deal is made in Ukraine.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is warning the U.S. that it has two choices: diplomacy or war, and Iran is prepared for both. This, after a round of indirect talks in Oman, where Tehran made it clear that Trump’s debate of “zero uranium enrichment” is a nonstarter.

Iran-based Geopolitical Analyst Ehsan Safarnejad noted that many in Iran believe “war is inevitable,” but the Iranian government is engaging in nuclear talks with the U.S., because it wants to make every attempt to pursue peace before turning to war.

He also emphasized that “Iran is playing chess,” and it will methodically choose its steps, especially when it comes to future regional attacks, instead of just showing all of its military might at once.

Delegations from the U.S. and Iran participated in a round of indirect talks in Oman on Friday, on the topic of Iran’s nuclear program. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi called the talks “a very good start,” after Tehran refused Washington’s request to debate other issues, such as Iran’s ballistic missile program and its support for the Axis of Resistance.

Iran is making it clear that it holds the cards ahead of planned talks with the U.S., as Tehran chose the venue and the topic, and has refused to allow discussions on it ballistic missile program or its support for the Axis of Resistance in the region.

This, as the U.S. and Russia just agreed to resume military-to-military talks. But they have yet to reach an agreement on what's next, as New START, the last remaining nuclear arms treaty between the two countries, just expired...

Plans for talks appear to be back ON, after the Trump Admin tried to turn a planned meeting into a regional powwow, and Tehran changed the venue to Oman and stated that they are ONLY interested in discussions aimed at a possible nuclear deal.

Former CIA Analyst Larry Johnson noted that “Trump is trapped,” after plans to attack Iran amid violent protests didn’t work, so now Trump could be looking for a way to temporarily de-escalate and avoid a regional war that would devastating for the U.S. and Israel.

Russia and Ukraine are preparing for another round of talks in Abu Dhabi, as the West is promoting another ceasefire plan Russia won’t accept, and it’s Groundhog Day again. This, as Russia goes back to ramping up its drone and missile attacks with targets that include Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

International Relations and Security Analyst Mark Sleboda noted that with Ukraine’s energy grid falling apart and wreaking havoc on the civilian population, Kiev is facing an economic and political collapse that could come before Ukraine sees a military defeat on the battlefield.

The U.S. appears to be coming down from the brink of an attack on Iran, amid reports that the Trump Admin is talking with the Iranian government, and that nuclear talks could be in the future. But given Trump’s track recored… how likely is it that the U.S. is once again buying time before it strikes?

Prof. Seyed Mohammad Marandi, of the University of Tehran, noted that he’s not optimistic about the possibility of a deal, based on everything we know about the Trump Admin and its goal of “regime change” in Iran.

He warned, however, that if the U.S. attacked, Iran would respond with a regional war would be devastating for Israel, American military bases, gulf monarchies, and the global economy… just to name a few.

Russian President Putin has reportedly extended an invitation to Ukrainian leader Zelensky to visit Moscow for talks, as the two countries prepare for a second week of meetings in Abu Dhabi. But a deal to end the war still feels out of reach as Moscow maintains its demands, and Kiev + NATO continue to ignore Russia’s security concerns.

Irish Journalist Chay Bowes noted that while Russia has sent a military delegation, which could signal that they are focused on negotiating territory and buffer zones along the front lines, the war in Ukraine will come to its natural conclusion if a deal is not made. And if it isn’t Kiev’s military that falls apart, it will be the government, as Ukrainians deal with the fallout of Russian strikes on energy infrastructure and rampant corruption in Kiev.
