This week we are discussing Life Coach and "Boss Babe", Rachel Hollis. Rachel landed on our radar this week because of her downright (recurring) bad behavior online. From gaslighting her audience about her impending divorce, to plagiarizing Maya Angelou (among others), Rachel Hollis has shown her audience, and others watching, who she is and what she stands for time and time again. This week is no different where Hollis, on a TikTok video brought over to Instagram creates a video that exhibits her white privilege and her lack of understanding of how privilege actually works. While she is at it, she dehumanizes the person that cleans her house while letting her audience know that her goal was never to be relatable. We're calling bullshit on Rachel Hollis as she has built an entire life and brand off of her sheer relatability.
We are two white women sitting down to chat about how one white women coach, Rachel Hollis, acted out online. We acknowledge that Rachel Hollis is a white-lady problem and while we call her into accountability, we understand that all white folks must continue to show up to their own inner-work as well, and that includes us.
We aren't the only folks talking about this and we acknowledge that this short podcast doesn't even dare to scratch the surface of the extent of the harm caused by Rachel Hollis. Therefore, we are urging you to examine the links below, compensate the teachers, and take the action items listed out.
