1 Peter 3:7 

In this short but powerfully demanding verse, the husband is given a command which is backed up by 3 reasons. 1st in the nature/creation of the wife, 2nd in the nature of salvation/gift of grace and 3rd in the husband’s own relationship with God. We can interpret and apply this verse by covering 4 things every husband needs to know and do.

1 Peter 3:1-6 and Proverbs 31:10-31 answer some foundational questions that our world, and even many in the church, are increasingly confused about. These scriptures will show us God’s good design in response to these four questions: 

1.) Which is better, man or woman?

2.)How and why are men and women different?

3.) What does the Bible say about feminine beauty and Christian modesty?

4.) What is courageous Christian womanhood?

1 Peter 3:1-6

1.      Submission. What does it mean that wives are to be submissive to their own husbands?

2.      Won.  How might disobedient husbands be won without a word?

3.      Conduct. What would it look like for my conduct to be respectful & pure?

4.      Adorning. What does it mean for my adorning to be internal and not merely external?

5.      Spirit. What would it look like for me to have a gentle and quiet spirit which is precious in the sight of God?

6.      Hope. How can I be fearless through hoping in God?

Authority, as God designed it, is good. But, because of sin, our world is confused and conflicted about authority.

Godly authority gives more than it takes. Godly authority provides for life and makes it more fruitful rather than stealing and making it less fruitful. 

Every earthly authority is always accountable to a higher authority

Good authority is always necessary. We should pray for it, provide for it, encourage it, and submit to it.
