From the beginning, God has been speaking life, identity, and purpose over His people. In Exodus, God called Moses before He sent him, promising, “I will be with you.” At Jesus’ baptism, the Father spoke identity and delight over the Son before His public ministry began: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

The Golden Calf | Exodus 32

What do we do when God feels silent, the waiting feels long, and fear starts telling us a different story?

Israel had been rescued from Egypt, carried through the Red Sea, fed with manna, given water from the rock, and invited near at Mount Sinai. God had been faithful. We explore the truth that even good desires can be put in the wrong order and we are invited to let Jesus search our hearts and reshape our loves.

The good news is that God does not abandon His people in the wilderness. The remedy is always Jesus — the true Passover Lamb, the greater Mediator, and the One who carries us when the idols we carry cannot save us.
