IFP leader Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi has called on the NFP leadership to tell their members the truth about the reasons behind the party's failure to pay the IEC registration fee. Buthelezi addressed members of the media in Durban following violent protests allegedly by NFP members in Ulundi in northern KwaZulu-Natal. NFP members were reacting to the news that the Electoral Court has ruled against their party, disqualifying them from contesting the August local government elections. The EFF says it is ready to govern the beleaguered Tlokwe Local Municipality in the North West. Malema addressed hundreds of residents of Ikageng extension seven on a three day election campaign trail in the North West. The council has been embroiled in a protracted battle over legitimacy of the outcome of the last bi-election. Malema says his party is willing to work with the Tlokwe Independent candidates who are former ANC members and all the other political parties in Tlokwe except the ANC. Patrick Dintwa reports

President Jacob Zuma has assured disgruntled ANC members in Tshwane region that the leadership of the ruling party is committed to easing the political tension created by the nomination of Thoko Didiza as a mayoral candidate for the Tshwane Metro. The announcement of Didiza as a mayoral candidate sparked a wave of violence and protests by members aligned to the incumbent mayor Kgosientsho Ramokgopa. Eskom's Chief executive officer, Brain Molefe says nuclear is the only source of energy that can provide affordable electricity to poor households. Molefe says while the intial cost of investment in nuclear is higher compared to other sources, it can still be financed. He was speaking during the company's financial results in Johnnesburg. Convicted murderer, Oscar Pistorius, could find himself back in jail serving a lengthy sentence. That's according to criminal law experts. Today , Judge Thokozile Masipa is expected to hand down judgment in sentence in Pretoria's High Court. Pistorius's defence team argued last month for a non-custodial sentence while the state is looking for the minimum sentence of 15 years behind bars. The former athlete shot and killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013. Noma Bolani reports..
