Zimbabwe's constitutional court has delivered a landmark ruling outlawing all forms of child marriage. Rights activists say the ruling is a victory for a country where a third of girls are married before they turn 18. Former child bride Loveness Mudzuri took the government to court last year, arguing that sections of the marriage law allowing minors to marry were discriminatory and violated children's rights as contained in the Constitution adopted in 2013. The modest projected growth for the global economy will impact efforts to pursue sustainable economic, social and envirinmental development. That's acoording to the United Nation's Assistant Secretary General for Economic development Lenni Montiel who held a briefing on the World Economic Situation and Prospect report for 2016. The report, released late last year, predicts global growth of around 2.9% for 2016 ticking up to around 3.2% next year. Sherwin Bryce-Pease reports.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme will today host a briefing detailing how this year's funding will be distributed. The Department of Higher Education released an additional 6-point-9 billion-rand to make up for the shortfall this academic year. On Wednesday, Vice Chancellors, NSFAS leadership and the Ministers of Higher Education met to discuss their funding issues and disruptions at several universities across the country.
