Justice Department Spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga says King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo of the AbaThembu clan has 48 hours to report to a correctional centre near the court where he was convicted. The King lost his appeal in the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein yesterday (Thursday 1 October) and was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment. He was convicted of arson‚ culpable homicide, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm‚ and defeating the ends of justice. The chief executive of the Xhosa Royal Council, Zolani Mkiva, says it is unacceptable that the king be sent to jail.
