ARTS: Earlier this week we learnt of the passing of Barry

Ronge who was one of SA’s most loved movie critics,
columnist and arts journalist. He was 74. We now speak
to publicist Bridget Van Oerle from Buzz Factor.

The Rooibos industry has paid a sum of R12.2
million to Khoi and San communities as part of an
Access and Benefit-sharing agreement between the
parties. The Khoi-Khoi and San people were recognised
as the rightful traditional knowledge holders of Rooibos in
2014. As part of the agreement, the South African Rooibos
Council pays a levy of 1.5% of the farm gate price of
Rooibos annually. We now speak to KhoiSan activist
Christian Martin.

First Thing is First | The City of Tshwane is set to pursue township customers whose accounts are in arrears, as part of its revenue collection programme.

• The City says it is owed R7.3bn by township customers across its seven regions.
• As part of its revenue collection campaign #TshwaneYaTima, the city says it is finalising logistics to pursue defaulting customers made up of residents, businesses and government departments whose accounts are in arrears.

• Township customers throughout the city’s seven regions owe The City of Tshwane R7.3 billion with Mamelodi and Nellmapius customers incurring the highest debt of more than R2.1 billion.
• This is followed by Soshanguve customers who owe the city over R1.1 billion.
• They are also monitoring illegal connections.
