Political analyst, Dr Ralph Mathekga has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to release the long awaited state capture report as soon as possible after it is handed to him. This comes after United Democratic Movement leader, Bantu Holomisa criticised Ramaphosa's request to be given time to consider the report. Holomisa has also suggested that Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo present the report to parliament, instead of handing it to Ramaphosa. Mourners have flocked in to the St George's Cathedral in Cape Town to view the remains of the late Anglican Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, where he is lying in state. Public viewing begin this morning and will conclude tomorrow ahead of Tutu's burial on Saturday. The 90-year-old died on Sunday morning at his home in Cape Town. The Anglican Church says Tutu wanted to be buried within a week. Tutu has been granted a category one funeral service by the state. Elvis Presslin spoke to SABC reporter, Lulama Matya

Eastern Cape Police are continuing with their investigations after five family members were brutally murdered at Shisane locality outside Tsolo. Police say the family members were attacked while sleeping by gunmen. The motive for the murders is not known yet. Police spokesperson Thembinkosi Kinana says accordirng to information at their disposal, a family of five people aged between 18 and 82 years of age were sleeping in their home, when unidentified suspects entered their different rooms and shot all of them with firearm. Minister of Communications and Digital Technology, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni has celebrated her first 100 days in office.  Ntshavheni says among her biggest achievements so far, she counts the revival of the broadcast digital migration process and her success in reducing the number of court cases against her department. She says some of her priorities for 2022 include the corporatisation of the Post Bank and helping the SABC to be exempted from the Public Finance Management Act which currently prevents the public broadcaster to compete with private companies. The Department of Health's decision to recall a recent circular on revised COVID-19 Contact Tracing, Quarantine and Isolation protocols, has been met with mixed reactions. In a statement, the Department on Tuesday that the reason for the revision was based on a number of scientific factors including the fact that, most people have vaccinated with at least one dose and developed some level of immunity. This has contributed to the current low hospitalisation and high recovery rates. The department says it has been inundated with inquiries and comments since the release of the revised protocols. Power utility Eskom Spokesperson, Skonathi Mantshantsha has confirmed a transformer explosion at its Camden Power Station in Mpumalanga. Elvis Presslin spoke Mantshantsha on the details. 

Security is tight at the Malamulele magistrate court in Limpopo where  a 52-year-old suspect is appearing for allegedly shooting and killing seven of his family members at Jimmy  Jones village on Christmas Day. A group of residents is protesting at the main entrance, holding placards calling for the suspect not to be granted bail.  The violence started after a family feud over the ownership of the home left behind by the late father of the suspect. The Grahamstown High Court in Makhanda has ruled that Shell must halt its Seismic survey, planned along the Wild coast, until a second part of an interdict is heard. The application was brought by a number of coastal communities including the Amadiba Crisis Committee after an urgent application was dismissed by the same court two weeks ago. Environmental groups are arguing that the blasting will cause significant and irreparable harm to marine life in the affected area, while Shell has denied this. The National Department of Health is expanding its vaccination drive to offer a third booster shot to South Africans who have had two Pfizer vaccinations.  The boosters are being administered six months after eligible recipients received their second primary shots. The third booster jabs come in the wake of the rapid spread of the latest Covid 19 variant, Omicron, which has the ability to evade vaccine and infection-induced immunity.
