INTERVIEW: Chaotic scenes erupted outside the Senekal Magistrates Court following a clash between police and farmers in the area yesterday. Preliminary reports indicate that gunshots were fired, a police vehicle was overturned and set alight, the court vandalised and court property damaged, following the appearance of two accused on charges relating to the murder of a farm manager. We’re now joined on the line by Richard Mamabolo, spokesperson for the olice and PPrisons Civil Rights Union.

TheTakeOffInterview| The South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners (SAIBPP) has urged President Cyril Ramaphosa and government to ensure that black-owned companies are involved in the construction of multibillion-rand infrastructure plans such as the Mooikloof Mega City housing launch on Sunday.
SAIBPP president Tholo Makhaola was commenting after Balwin Properties was named as the property entity which would be responsible for the construction and development of the mega housing projects set to be completed within a year. We chat about the construction industry and challenges faced by Black-owned companies
The case for the transformation of the South African construction sector is an obvious and evident one to make. Large companies continue to dominate business in the engineering and built environments and emerging contractors are confronted with huge barriers to entry.
The South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners' (SAIBPP) vision is to be a leader in the transformation of the property sector, ensuring that previously disadvantaged people play an active role in transforming the property industry and not merely being on the receiving end.

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) will embark on mass strike action on Wednesday (7 October) as part of an ongoing dispute with the government.
However, unlike more traditional strikes seen in the country, Cosatu has asked its members to stay at home in support of the action due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Cosatu is the largest trade federation in the country with an estimated membership of 1.8 million workers.
