President Cyril Ramaphosa has instructed the government to urgently implement the process of putting the struggling South African Airways (SAA) under business rescue. The airline, suffered a crippling strike last month and was forced to cancel a number of flights and this pushed it to the brink of collapse. In a statement, the minister of Public Enterprises, Pravin Grodhan says placing the airline on a business rescue is an optimal mechanism to restore confidence in SAA and to safeguard it's good assets. SAA has not made a profit since 2011 and is dependent on government bailouts to remain solvent. We speak to economics reporter, Amina Accram and accountant/commentator Khaya Sithole

Johannesburg mayor Geoff Makhubo says negotiations are under way with other parties to form a new executive of the City. Makhubo was speaking during a media briefing in Johannesburg this morning where he outlined his vision for the City. He was elected Joburg mayor yesterday after winning by 137 votes. Makhubo beat the DA's Funzela Ngobeni who got 101 votes and the EFF's Musa Novela who scored 30 votes. Makhubo says the new executive is expected to be announced this weekend . Cricket South Africa president Chris Nenzani has called a news conference for 6 o'clock this evening, in the wake of continued criticism of it's handling of the media. CSA revoked the accreditations of five journalists on Sunday, a move they admit was in response to those journalists writing stories critical of the administration. CSA has since re-instated the five affected writers, and CSA CEO Thabang Moroe has apologised to them for the actions. But the damage done to CSA and South Africans cricket in the past few days might be tough to return from. Amongst those who's been strong in his criticism is advocate Norman Arendse, a former CSA board member. Fritz Joubert's friend has described him assomebody who always wanted to be right and did not handle confrontations very well. Forty year-old Anele Hoyana succumbed to injuries inflicted allegedly by Joubert using a rifle in a video that went viral on social media. Joubert was later killed by a police officer during a scuffle following Hoyana's murder. Joubert's friend Zwelihle Mathe who was also a DJ at many of the events that Joubert hosted says things got uncomfortable when Jourbert started behaving strangely which promted them to leave the party leaving Hoyana, his wife and children behind as they were temporarily staying with Joubert- We spoke to Joubert's friend Zwelihle Mathe

Last night (28 November) Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng hosted the 2019 UCT Annual Awards, an evening that sees the university community gathered together to celebrate the outstanding contributions of professional, administrative support and service (PASS) and academic staff.
