 In February this year, at the 61st annual Grammy awards in Los Angeles, the Soweto Gospel Choir (SGC) won their third Grammy for the Best World Music Album for Freedom.
 Soweto Gospel Choir is an Ambassador for Nelson Mandela’s 46664 campaign and has performed at the Cape Town, Johannesburg, London and New York concerts with artists such as Peter Gabriel, Bono, Queen, Jimmy Cliff, Johnny Clegg, Eddie Grant Amy Winehouse, Queen Latifah, Wyclef Jean, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder.
 They are now bringing their Grammy-winning freedom tour to Soweto theatre from 23 October 2019

Convicted child rapist Nicholas Ninow has told the North Gauteng High Court that he was 13 when he started using drugs and that he was on anti-depression medication his whole life. Ninow is testifying - today as the court begins with pre-sentencing proceedings. Ninow was found guilty of raping a seven-year old girl in the toilet cubicle at a Dros Restaurant in Pretoria in September last year. The court rejected is version that he acted impulsively when he raped the child. His legal team will have to prove substantial and compelling circumstances on why the court should deviate from the prescribed minimum sentence of life in prison. Ninow says life in prison has been very tough on him and he has been using drugs to numb his pain. Asked by court where he gets the drugs in prison Ninow said drugs are everywhere and accessible in prison...

Eskom has announced that it will be to implementing stage two rotational load-shedding from 09:00 until 23:00. The power utility says this is in order to protect the power system from a total collapse. In a statement, Eskom says the power supply constraint is caused by five generating units that are unavailable due to boiler tube leaks among other things. #FamilyInterview - She is SA’s latest music sensation . Port Elizabeth born songstress Ami Faku may have been axed in the top 16 of The Voice SA, but she's seemingly getting the last laugh with her fast-rising music career.
 The 26-year-old songbird, born Amanda Faku, has taken the industry by storm, especially after her guest appearance on Sun-El Musician's smash hit Into Ingawe.
 Her love song Ubuhle Bakho featured in Uzalo's big wedding episode between the characters Khathaza (Sibonile Ngubane) and Mangcobo (Dawn Thandeka King) in June. The song has become a fan favourite
 Her debut album Imali that dropped last month has been positively received.
 The 11-track record yields songs such as Ungowami, Ubuhle Bakho and Ndivulele.
 The Afro-soul album has landed her the coveted feat of being Apple Music's New Artist Spotlight for the month of October, following in the footsteps of Sho Madjozi, Simmy, Tellaman and Shekhinah.
 The album also debuted at number one on Apple Music (ZA).
 Her passion for music was fuelled by a supportive family who kept her going even through 2 rejections at the pre-auditions of Idols SA. In 2016 Ami Faku decided to give the hopes of a music career one last shot when she auditioned for The Voice SA where she successfully made it through the auditions and weekly elimination rounds until she reached the Top 16 spot.

#FamilyBusiness - Scholar transport company, Cool (kids') Cabs, has launched The Big Yellow Bus service - a first in South Africa as it is the only bus to provide full 3-point seatbelts and car seats on every seat allowing for safer transportation of children.
Most public transport only provide lapbelts which are insufficient in restraining a child’s body should an accident occur as it means that car seats cannot be properly installed.
