A learner has committed suicide due to alleged bullying by a teacher at Vorentoe high school . Nicole Mnguni took her life Tuesday after returning from school to fetch her report which the school refused to give her. Mnguni is said to have been a victim of harassment and bullying by her Mathematics teacher the school is aware of the case but had not taken any action to address. It has also emerged that Mnguni is not the only victim of this teacher, as many other learnes have since spoken out about the ill treatment they've experienced from the same teacher.

Parents of learners at the Schweizer Reneke Laer Skool in the North West have fetched their children from the school in panic following allegations of racism against it. Education MEC Sello Lehare visited the school to investigate the allegations. Aaron Motswana, the mayor of the Mamusa Local Municipality in which the school is situated says people must not rush to conclusion after seeing the photo that is circulating on social media. The photo, which has gone viral, shows a group of black grade R learners separated from their white classmates.

The leader of the Engagement for Citizenship and Development party Martin Fayulu, has questioned the legitimacy of the results of the November 30 elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Election authorities in that country announced Felix Tshisekedi, who is a veteran politician and has been Joseph Kabila's rival for years, as the provisional winner. The Constitutional Court is yet to endorse the results. Fayulu says he does not believe that Tshisekedi managed to secure 7 million votes. The DRC's former coloniser France is also doubting the outcome. However, Congolese nationals living in Joburg, South Africa, are happy about the results.

The Independent Electoral Commission says it has obtained residential addresses of over 21-million voters. CEO Sy Mamabolo says 83 per cent of the names on the voters' roll have full address details. The issue has been before the Constitutional Court which recently extended the deadline to update the address details of voters. Mamabolo says they have until November to collect this information and can do so even on voting day. Mamabolo explains some of the progessses made in preparation for this year's elections

Civic organisation SANCO will meet with the City of Tshwane to discuss the future of prophet Shepherd Bushiri's Enlightened Christian Gathering Ministry in Pretoria. SANCO Tshwane regional chairperson, Abraham Mashishi, says they will also ask the Hawks, the City of Tshwane and chapter nine institutions to investigate the finances and legality of the church. Members of SANCO have been protesting outside the church at the Tshwane Events Centre since the weekend after three women died and nine others were injured during a stampede on December 28th. We speak to Chaiperson of the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CLR) Thoko Mkwanazi- Xaluva.

Learning and teaching has been disrupted by parents at Tikhontele Secondary School in Matsulu east of Mbombela in Mpumalanga. The parents are demanding that the school curriculum be changed. The Maths and Science school obtained 45% matric pass rate last year. An urgent meeting with the parents and the Department of Education was called to resolve the impulse.

The re-opening of schools for Grade 12 learners at Letshega-Molokwane High School at Ga-Matlala in Limpopo has started on a low note. The school obtained a zero percent pass rate after the twelve learners, who sat for final matric exams, failed. Low learner enrollment is said to have been the biggest contributor to the dismal performance.

The Eastern Cape Health Department has received a boost for health care delivery. This follows the appointment of 1 240 newly qualified health professionals from the national department. These include 179 medical interns; 130 Community Service Doctors and 654 Community Service Nurses. This comes at a time when the province battles with major staff shortages in the public health service. The province has employed over 9 000 nurses and more than 1 000 doctors to service an estimated seven million people in the province. The funeral service of the four children who were allegedly killed by their mother in Klarinet at Emalahleni, Mpumalanga on boxing day, took place this morning at Pretoria Memorial Park graveyard in Emalahleni. The children aged between 11 months and 8 years were found wrapped in blankets inside her house. The Maditla family says it has forgiven the mother 24-year old Zintle Maditla who appeared in court yesterday.
