The Gauteng Education Department says it is looking at implementing new security measures in order to ensure safety at some of the schools in the province. These measures include installing security cameras, including deploying armed guards in order to tackle rampant violence, gangsterism, bullying and substance abuse by learners.  The Law Society of South Africa has told the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services that serious interventions are needed at the offices of the master of high court across the country, as they render dismal service to clients. Poor customer service, long queues, and poor ways of filing are cited among the challenges facing the master's office. The law society has proposed that the Department of Justice needs to train and motivate its officials in the master's office to improve productivity and provide good service to its clients. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter Lulama Matya and Advocate Kanyane Mathibe, the Chief Director of Strategy and Policy at Master of the High Court,

President Cyril Ramaphosa will today make a return visit to the North West to assess progress made on commitments government made during the previous District Development Model Presidential Imbizo in the province. During the first visit, community members raised various service delivery issues pertaining to water shortages, crime, poor roads and the lack of access to electricity and jobs. The National Assembly has endorsed Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka as the next Public Protector. Gcaleka, who previously served as deputy and acting public protector, received 244 votes, while 12 MPs voted against her appointment. The DA staged a walkout during the debate, while the EFF, UDM, ATM, COPE and PAC did not participate in the vote. It's now left to President Cyril Ramaphosa to appoint Gcaleka to the position. The African National Congress, ANC will today hold a picket outside the Israeli embassy in Pretoria, In solidarity with Palestine. This after more than a week of intensified violent, retaliatory attacks between the two Middle Eastern countries, after the Palestinian group Hamas launched unexpected military onslaught against Israel.
