The South African Democratic Teachers' Union, SADTU will today march to the Durban City Hall over a myriad of challenges facing schools and teachers. Disgruntled educators in the province are threatening a full-blown strike if their demands and outstanding issues are not addressed. They are demanding access to water. The province has been battling a growing water crisis, where water disruptions have affected residents in a number of municipalities. City of Tshwane mayor, Cilliers Brink says a senior SAMWU regional executive member has been dismissed for allegedly being involved in the torching of waste removal trucks belonging to a contractor. Brink says video footage shows a group that firebombed the truck being dropped off and collected by a vehicle belonging to the SAMWU leader on August 28. Eight vehicles have been set alight since the beginning of the unprotected wage strike in July. Brink, however, says it is disappointing that the dismissed employee has not yet been arrested despite evidence being handed over to the police. Some beneficiaries of social grants in the Eastern Cape are appealing to government to speedily sort out the technical glitches that are causing delays in  the payment of their money. Grant beneficiaries in Komani and the surrounding areas claim are yet to receive their grants. The glitches are due to system upgrade at Postbank.
