February has become known in the US and Canada as Black History Month, an initiative that dates back to 1926, aiming at highlighting and commemorating important events and influential individuals in African history. In this weeks show, we will discuss how history writing has created the images we have of Africa today and how Africa and the African diaspora is represented in culture and entertainment. You will hear Aaisha Keita tell us her reflections on how black history month was celebrated in the US Embassy in Gambia and Lovisa Prage spoke to Josette Bushell-Mingo, from the swedish National Theatre and the film organisation CinemAfrica.

Black History Month

What is it like to be a transgender person today? How is asexuality defined? This show will be focusing on the LGBTQ community. You will hear an exclusive interview with "Guldbaggen" winning actor, Saga Becker, on the experience of portraying a transgender person and we talked to Anna Andersson about the asexuality community. The show will also feature a short interview with the spokesperson of RFSL Malmö, Andreas Paulsson, and Jessica Franzén talks about the transrevolution.
