BIO: Diana Forgione is a non-binary poet, writer, editor and workshop facilitator. They are the Co-Founder of Death Rattle Literary, Head Editor for OROBORO, as well as judge and workshop Instructor for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. They utilize their work to examine the underlying nature of one's conflicting humanity; attempting to discern aromanticism, trauma, and gender. Their work can be found in, Homology Lit, Reality Beach and Cobra Milk, among other places.

In this episode we wrap up our series on intergenerational communication with Gen Z (we're not ignoring Gen Alpha, they're just not old enough yet). This is a generation that is experiencing a current upheaval similar to what Boomers grew up with, particularly rapidly changing technology, and economic and socio-political uncertainties. They are coming of age and, like all the other generations covered by Communication Matters, misunderstood by those who preceded them.

Effecting personal change on our own volition and terms is one thing - adapting to external change while adhering to our values is another. Often times, we think of adapting to unexpected change or change beyond our control as something we must do, and all we have to change behavior. That can be an unwelcome and unsustainable ask if we don't consider how the change and adaptation to it connects with our value framework. In this episode we'll explore how to respond to change as it happens, and doing so in consideration of our values, our thinking, and ultimately the behavior that follows.

Poet Mar Ka writes from the foothills of Alaska's Chugach Mountains. Winner of the Midnight Sun Poetry Prize, recipient of an NEH grant, longtime poetry judge for the University of Alaska/ADN statewide Creative Writing Contest, her poems have been published in national and international journals. Her work as an indigenous rights attorney took her to some ninety of Alaska's two hundred-plus Alaska Native villages. She holds a journalism degree from Northwestern University, a J.D. from the University of Chicago, and an MFA from the Institute of American Indian Arts. She is of Lithuanian heritage.
