Premier the Hon. Julianna OÇonnor Connolly announces a one time $500 grant to civil service pensioners just in time for the holidays. The Premier says the funds come from central government savings. On Radio Cayman's Talk Today, the Premier also announced the import duty allowance has been increased from $500 to $1,000 from december 1st to the 6th of January.
The Ministry of Tourism and Ports says the contract is signed with McAlpine Limited for Phase 2 of the Central Scranton Park.
The Scope of Work for Phase 2 includes construction of a community center, multi-Sport court and other parts of the park's infrastructure.
A reminder from the Department of Environment that shark feeding is not allowed in the Cayman Islands - this after a shark had a run in with a diver who was lionfish culling. DoE says its a sign that sharks are associated divers with food, a behaviour that understandably should be discouraged. Sharks are a protected species and it is against the law to feed, harm or kill them.
