Radio DePod

Priya and Sonal are this year's podcast producers! This first episode is a heavy one: we discuss police training as it relates to mental health cases, where this training falls short, and what some of the alternatives may look like.

Thank you to Graham Ellinghausen at CPAC, Chris Richardson from STAR, as well as the office of Alderwoman Rossana Rodriquez Sanchez. Special thank you to Grace Porter for trusting us with her story. We couldn't have done it without you, Grace.

Thanks for listening!

In their final episode, Amy and John reflect on their years at the Radio DePaul Podcast. From starting as podcast newcomers to merging audio clips with finesse, the Podcast Duo are so grateful for each and every listener who has lent their ears to our college soapbox.

The lessons and virtues that Amy and John learned over the years hopefully reflect in the episodes. This podcast would not be possible without all of you!

In this episode, Amy and John explore the unconventional world of social isolation amidst this global pandemic. Some are lucky enough to quarantine with families, some by themselves. But, we are all getting through this differently, with some things hitting a common ground for most people. We are all struggling, and we are all consuming media. Is there a connection between these two habitual actions? We explore everything about this quarantine period of COVID-19 and more in this episode.

Thanks to all of our wonderful interviewees for participating.

In this episode, Amy and John explore the unknown pathways that are ahead in the time of the coronavirus. How is it affecting DePaul students? How has the school comforted or helped students throughout this process? What's next?

We talked to multiple students to try and figure it all out.

In the 2nd extra episode of the Radio DePaul Podcast, Sonal Soni walks us through the ins-and-outs of how marijuana has been legally rolled out in Illinois. Sonal interviewed Austin Berg, the vice president of marketing at the Illinois Policy Institute, as well as a number of Sunnyside Dispensary customers and black-market consumers.

Sonal breaks down how Iegalization impacts both low-income and high-income communities, as well as the aspects of price, taxation, and accessibility within this profitable industry.

Thanks to Austin Berg and all of my interviewees, and a special thanks to John Cotter for producing.

In this episode, Amy and John interview handfuls of individuals living with seasonal affective disorder, also know as SAD and seasonal depression. As a very common disorder, this time of year can be tough for many, especially as the sun hides itself behind the clouds.

By opening this discussion and asking people how they look at the disorder, deal with it, and what they think about its stigma and impacts, Amy and John learned about this disorder through the lenses of these wonderful interviewees.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in interviews and were supportive throughout this production process! Stay warm and get some sun, everyone.

In the first Extra Episode of The Radio DePaul Podcast, Priya takes us through a journey of street art, its accessibility and how these public paintings and art pieces speak to everyone in differently unique ways. But in the end, even if interpretations differ, it means something to us regardless.

Thanks to Brother Mark, Anat Ronen, and Priya's tour guide, Matt, for participating in interviews. Interviews conducted by Priya and Amy, and the episode was produced and edited by Priya and John.
