  • The Valor Hour: Jamie Driver, Steven New, David Robins, & UFC 239 Preview
This week on The Valor Hour, Valor Fighting Challenge’s Tim Loy, Greg Hopkins, and Justin Watson preview UFC 239 and chat with Jamie Driver, Steven New, and David Robins about their fights at Valor Fighting Challenge 62.
The guys kick off the show chatting with Jamie Driver, who battles Olivia Parker in the co-main event at VFC 62. Jamie introduces herself, talks about her start in martial arts at age 19, growing up playing field hockey and lacrosse but not feeling it was “violent enough” for her. She talks about training for next week’s fight against Park and her experience in the cage. She says that though she’s fought some pretty big names, she doesn’t really feel she was ready for those but she’s learned from all of them and she’s good to go. She also talks about her weight cut, her “OJ” nickname, her competitive spirit, and overcoming a recent death in her family as she trains for the fight.
Next up, “Showtime” Steven New checks in to talk his upcoming fight against Tyler Smith at VFC 61. It’s been about a year since his last MMA fight but he certainly hasn’t been stagnant. In the last year, he’s made his pro boxing debut and fought in several jiu-jitsu tournaments. New talks about his matchup against Smith next week, his expectations for the fight, working on his striking, Smith’s explosive right hand, reinventing himself and getting back on track after the last few years, and more.
The final guest of the night as a familiar face to The Valor Hour, “Ruthless” David Robins, who makes his lightweight debut against Memphis’ Adam Denton. Robins talks about the weight cut down to 155 lbs, his expectations for the fight, Denton being scrappy, wanting to make his own openings and taking advantage of them, and really liking how he feels at the lower weight. He also talks about how he’s been really focusing on his jiu-jitsu in his training and he’s confident this slug fest won’t go to the scorecards.
Finally, the guys recap UFC Minneapolis and the big win by Francis Ngannou and look ahead to this weekend’s UFC 23 headlined by Jon Jones battling Thiago Santos.

As usual we drive up to the Zone Café and place our order for the missing link needed for peak performance. What are you missing?
What is Independence? It is the single most prized possession of ALL mankind. It can lead you through hardship and anguish. It provides freedom of choice and with our personal “free will” the choices are many. In America we have freedom from the control, influence, support, or aid of others.
Listen to your options of choice.
    Independence.  It’s the American Way.

    * Are you exercising your independence? I take a deep dive into your personal finances, parenting, relationships, wellness, business, and friends.
    * Hear their stories. The lure of opportunity and a need to succeed brought these drivers to my doorstep. They chose Uber, taxi, limo or Lyft because of the flexible hours, pay, and freedom it provided to pursue their educational or entrepreneurial ambitions.

Listen up America!  Exercise your individual INDEPENDENCE.  Do NOT sit on the sidelines and be complacent.  Do NOT complain about your plight.  Do NOT act like a victim of the system.  Do NOT judge others. Do NOT see your future without a well-planned blueprint. Do NOT hesitate to dream big.
Turn your dreams into reality.  You still have INDEPENDENCE.  Wield it in a positive way and set your sights on a bright future.  Good fortune favors the bold!

  • Dark To Light With Frank & Beanz: Happy Independence Day!

It is the day before Independence Day and the show today is a really fun, laid back conversation about everything going on both culturally and politically. Frank and Beanz tackle all of the issues in the news!
The Betsy Ross flag is apparently an issue.
What happened to Nike? Why is Kaepernick holding them by the cajones and what are they going to do once they realize what kind of a situation they have put themselves in?
There are lots of festivities going on this week in DC and Frank and Beanz stumble across recordings of the DC chapter of Antifa meeting in a basement somewhere. They play some clips and dissect what is going on, which leads them down a winding road of history, laughs, serious strategy, and even some planning.
Next, what in the world HAPPENED yesterday with the flurry of crazy news that came out and how can we be sure that we can tell the difference between what is real and what is disinformation?
Finally to wrap up, has Beanz figured out how to trick lefty Twitter?

Well, we wonder this all of the time and as every team works to breakdown and analyze their players and search and identify new upcoming talent, testing becomes a big part of the process but are we collecting the right data and the right information?

    You may be surprised.
This week, we talk with Joel Jackson, Development Coach and Sport Conditioning Expert at the University of Alberta about his new article, “Making Sense of the NHL Fitness Testing Combine Results.”
