As the primaries have concluded around the country, we take a moment to look back at conversations with Bushra Amiwala who ran for Cook County Commissioner of the 13th District, and wit Dilara Sayeed who ran for Illinois State Representative of the 5th District. Though neither one won their races, we feel they (and we) have a lot to be proud of. They spoke to issues important to the people, energized the Muslim vote, as well as connected with the overall community letting them know that Muslims are concerned about the issues that face us all--and more importantly are willing to do the work to help make life better for all of us.

Author, Imam, and Radio Host Mikal Saahir joins us to talk about his book "The Honorable Elijah Muhammad: The Man Behind The Men" which examines his impact on the formation of four internationally lauded African American Muslims-- Imam Warith Deen Mohammed, Malcolm X, Minister Louis Farrakhan, and Muhammad Ali.
