Margaux Wong is a designer of sustainable fashion based in Bujumbura, Burundi. We interviewed her earlier this year, before the current unrest ahead of the presidential elections hit. Before we uploaded this episode, we asked Margaux if she thought we should wait to release it until the violent election has passed. She told us, "This episode is a refreshing snippet of Burundi life, which definitely contrasts with what is regularly portrayed of Burundi by the media. It gives me, as a woman with a Burundian family and life, something to hold on to. I believe it would bring a new light and a new hope to people who know Burundi and even to those who will hear of Burundi for the first time, through this episode."

Wir hören die gesamte Geschichte von der forensischen Linguistin Aneta Pavlenko, die untersuchte inwieweit Natasha überhaupt in der Lage war die Vorwürfe und Gesetzessprache zu verstehen. Es geht um die Miranda Rights, um Verhörtaktiken und um die Behandlung von Nicht-Muttersprachlern in Prozesssituationen.

Die Filmemacherin Alix Lambert reiste 1999 in russische Gefängnisse, um Tattoos zu untersuchen. Was sie dort vorfand waren Tattoos, die nicht nur Körperschmuck waren, sondern die mit Bedeutung aufgeladen waren. Jedes Tattoo hatte eine eigene Bedeutung.

„Das Segelschiff bedeutet, ich habe ein unstetes Leben geführt. Ich bin von Ort zu Ort gezogen. Hier ist ein Pirat und ein Totenkopf. Der Pirat steht für Raubüberfall und der Totenkopf für Mord.
