We know that in the early Church, healing was common. In fact, it was crucial to convincing non-believers about the Good News. We may also know, though distant from our experience, there have been great men and women in the Church who have occasionally healed, even in our day. However, why do we not see healing more often? Consider that it may be because we are too used to ‘the way things are’. What we need is the renewal of our minds by the Holy Spirit. Does Jesus have the authority to heal? Of course. Has not Jesus given his authority to the Church? Certainly. Are we not members of His Church by virtue of our baptism? What do you think, are we? If we are, then he has also given us His authority to heal! Let’s consider the Scripture that gives foundation to our authority. Then, be not distracted from or shy away from asking: ‘Lord, how do you want to heal this person?’
