A good soundtrack can change a great game into an incredible game by communicating character emotion, building and characterising worlds, and, in .the best of times, assisting in the narrative of the game.

Video game composers face a particular challenge - to compose music that will usually be heard on a non-stop loop, often needing to epitomise a location, theme or ethos without being overly invasive. So what the hell are the best video game soundtracks any way? 

Mike ties up a bunch of loose ends in the show, including the show's opening theme challenge set months ago, and responds to several listener emails across a variety of topics. After two weeks of breakfast radio, Mike struggles to keep up with himself and talks about his experience with 3am wake ups.

Bear & Bird. An unlikely combination of animals to stumble across, and and even more unlikely combination of friends. Banjo the Bear and Kazooie the Bird are two of the most elusive and infamous video game characters of all time.

Launching as a duo in the self-titled 1999 Nintendo 64 game, Banjo-Kazooie, the pair quickly became the favourite characters of many kids born in the 90s. The game, created by British developers, Rare, and composed by the talented Grant Kirkhope, was praised by critics. After an equally successful follow up, Banjo-Tooie, in the year 2000, the duo faded into seeming obscurity - popping up here and there from time to time, but never forgotten by their fans.

Now, finally, after an extended absence, fans are rejoicing as the dynamic duo bring their moves to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the latest DLC characters. Mike details the history of the bear, the bear and a franchise that was nearly forgotten.

Lewis Spears is a Melbourne based stand-up comedian who has seen his fair share of success in his career. In 2018, he released 'Death Threats Don't Scare Me,' a crowd-funded full length comedy special. His YouTube channel boasts over x000 subscribers from all over the world, he runs his own podcast, Spearhead Sundays, and his radio show Luke & Lewis went national across Australia. That's where I come in. So, who the hell is Lewis Spears? And what the hell is he all about?

Lewis talks about his recent trip to New York, and has a disagreement with Editor Mike. Intern Mike returns after a nearly 10-week absence and fails to impress Lewis with his new segment, 'Fast Three.' 

A friend of Lewis joins the show for Pokemon 'Straya Edition, while Lewis reads the Chapter 12.5 of Harry Potter & The Boys, placing his own spin on the series.

There's something I'd like to talk about. My name is Radio Mike. This podcast is the inside of my mind. Because of that, it would be fundamentally dishonest for me not to talk about this on the podcast.

Aside from the serious discussion, Mike breaks down the new live-action Aladdin film with Will Smith as Genie, and finally finishes up Chapter 12 of Harry Potter & The Boys, to see a (not-so) epic conclusion to the illustrious Qudditch competition.

The Simpsons is one of the most recognisable pop-culture artefacts in history. Pretty much everyone in the world would be able to recognise one of Matt Groening's famous yellow characters that would eventually grow to satirise the majority of American stereotypes. But what about Groening's second show: Futurama? It never reached the same level of mainstream popularity as it's predecessor, but garnered a cult following over the years, and proved itself to be equally deep, witty and emotional. From Fry's journey to the now commercialised moon, to the discovery of a fossilised version of his 20th Century Dog, Seymour - Futurama's creativity was constantly wonderful. So what the hell is better: The Simpsons or Futurama?

Foul mouthed Siri returns to the podcast and gives Editor Mike advice for his Tinder profile. Radio Superstar Pat phones in to discuss the next steps for Disappointment Juddman's failure and ban from the podcast, while Mike resurrects Pokemon Straya Edition after a long absence.
