जर्नेलसिंग भिंद्रनवाले यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली पंजाबमधील स्वतंत्र खलिस्तानसाठीच्या चळवळीने उग्र रूप धारण केलेलं होतं. पंजाबमधील वाढत्या हिंसाचारामुळे साऱ्या देशात चिंतेचं वातावरण निर्माण झालं होतं. अमृतसरमधील शिखांचं पवित्र स्थान असलेल्या सुवर्णमंदिरात केंद्र भिद्रनवाले आणि अन्य खलिस्तानवादी दहशतवाद्यांनी आश्रय घेतल्याने त्यांना हुसकावून लावून दहशतवादाचा बीमोड करण्यासाठी इंदिरा गांधींच्या केंद्र सरकारने लष्करी कारवाईचा धाडसी निर्णय घेतला व ५० जून, १९८४ रोजी 'ऑपरेशन ब्लू स्टार' ही मोहीम राबवली. या कारवाईत भिंद्रनवाले यांच्यासह ४९२ दहशतवादी मारले गेले.

"Tarkateertha" Lakshman Shastri Joshi (27 January 1901 – 27 May 1994) was an Indian scholar, of Sanskrit, Hindu Dharma, and a Marathi literary critic, and supporter of Indian independence. Mahatma Gandhi chose him to be his principal advisor in his campaign against untouchability. Joshi was equally a pragmatist, endorsing Nehru's investments in higher education and heavy industry.
General Arunkumar Shridhar Vaidya PVSM, MVC & Bar, AVSM, ADC (27 July 1926 – 10 August 1986) was a General Officer in the Indian Army. He served as the 13th Chief of the Army Staff from 1983 to 1986. Following his retirement, he was assassinated by Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha, Sikh militants of the Khalistan Commando Force in August 1986. This was done in vengeance of Operation Blue Star. General Arun Vaidya commanded this operation.

स्वातंत्र्यप्राप्तीपासून काँग्रेस पक्ष हा सर्वसमावेशक पक्ष राहिला आणि अनेक दलित, आदिवासी बहुजन समाजसमूहांचा संसदीय राजकारणात या पक्षाला पाठिंबा लाभलेला होता. मात्र दलितांचे प्रश्न, त्यांच्या मागण्या, त्यासाठीच्या योजना यांबाबत काँग्रेसची स्वतःची | अशी एक नीती व गती होती आणि त्याबाबत दलित व बहुजनांमध्ये अस्वस्थता होता. १९५६ मध्ये बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांनी बौद्ध धर्म स्वीकारून नवी दिशा देण्याचा प्रयत्न केला, पण अल्पावधीतच त्यांचा मृत्यू झाला. त्यात नंतर रिपब्लिकन पक्षातही दुही माजल्यामुळे दलित बहुजनाच्या मनात सशक्त नेतृत्व लाभत नसल्याबद्दल अस्वस्थता होती. या सर्व पार्श्वभूमीवर, दलित, आदिवासी व बहुजन कर्मचाऱ्यांच्या संघटनांचे नेतृत्व करणाऱ्या कांशीराम यांनी १४ एप्रिल, १९८४ रोजी 'बहुजन समाज पक्ष' या पक्षाची स्थापना केली.
Rasipuram Krishnaswami Laxman (24 October 1921 – 26 January 2015) was an Indian cartoonist, illustrator, and humorist. He is best known for his creation The Common Man and for his daily cartoon strip, You Said It in The Times of India, which started in 1951.
R. K. Laxman started his career as a part-time cartoonist, working mostly for local newspapers and magazines. While as a college student, he illustrated his older brother R. K. Narayan's stories in The Hindu. His first full-time job was as a political cartoonist for The Free Press Journal in Mumbai. Later, he joined The Times of India, and became famous for The Common Man character, which turned out to be the turning point in Laxman's life.

हिमालयातील काराकोरम क्षेत्रातील वादग्रस्त अशा सियाचीन ग्लेशियरच्या ताब्यासंदर्भात भारत व पाकिस्तान यांच्यामध्ये दीर्घकाळ जे मतभेद होते, त्यावर तोडगा म्हणून भारताने 'ऑपरेशन मेघदूत' योजना आखून १३ एप्रिल १९८४ रोजी या क्षेत्रात लष्करी कारवाई केली व या भागावरील आपला हक्क प्रस्थापित केला.
Informative session about the important personality. Ramabai Ranade (25 January 1862 – 25 January 1924) was an Indian social worker and one of the first women's rights activists in the 19th century. At the age of 11, she was married to Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade, who was a distinguished Indian scholar and social reformer. In that era of social inequality, women were not allowed to go to school and become literate.
Ramabai, soon after her marriage, started to learn reading and writing with strong support and encouragement from Mahadev Govind Ranade. Starting with her native language Marathi, she strove hard to master English.Ramabai Ranade with her husband and other colleagues established in 1886 the first girls' high school in Pune, the renowned Huzurpaga.
Inspired by her husband, Ramabai started 'Hindu Ladies Social Club' in Mumbai to develop public speaking among women.After the death of her husband, Ramabai devoted the rest of her life to the betterment of women's lives mainly through the activities 'Seva Sadan Society' in Mumbai and Pune.
