The people of the city of Zhengzhou in Hanan province of China are picking up what’s left of their lives after record rainfall fell in the city for most of last week killing at least 51 persons with several persons still missing and causing an estimated 10 billion dollars worth of damage according to Chinese media.

The United Nations secretary-general, Antonio Gutteres has sent a condolence message to China over the loss of lives and property and President Xi Xinping described the flood as extremely severe and called on authorities at all levels to give top priority to ensuring people's safety and that of their property.

World Hepatitis Day is observed each year on 28 July to raise awareness of viral hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver that causes severe liver disease and hepatocellular cancer. It is a day set aside to bring the world together under a single theme to raise awareness of the global burden of viral hepatitis and to influence real change.

This year’s theme is “Hepatitis can’t wait”, conveying the urgency of efforts needed to eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030. Viral Hepatitis Association of Nigeria (VHAN) is a preventive and early detective consultancy medical association charged with the responsibility of advocacy and creation of awareness on Viral and non-viral Hepatitis.

Over the past years, there seems to be a renewed increase in the use of Liquified Petroleum Gas, both in the rural and urban areas, as an alternative to firewood and kerosene for cooking, this is because LPG is environment friendly, clean, economical and safe,

But right now, Nigerians are paying more to cook with gas.

The cost of filling a 12.5kg cylinder of cooking gas has increased from N4,000 in December 2020 to N6,200 as of July 24, 2021. This implies that the price of cooking gas has risen by more than 60 per cent since early December last year.
