Alien Thing is a raucous Chicago based trio known for their high-energy performances and anxiety-fueled lyrics. The band name is an allusion to their overall sound, which is a vague blend of light-hearted-punk and unusual composition.

Demo is a Hip-Hop artist from the SouthSide Chicago. Born Alexis Ramirez, he was exposed to Hip-Hop at a young age. The environment he lived in was riddled with gangs and drugs, sadly he was easily drawn by the street way of life. His early years were spent gang-banging in the streets of Little Village (a neighbourhood in the SouthSide of Chicago). Music became an influence and soon he began writing his own lyrics. He was known to freestyle raps on corners for his friends. At age 13 he was taken to Radioarte (a local radio station) and freestyled on live air and received great feedback. As a freshman he freestyle for No I.D. (president of Def Jam) when he visited his high school as a guest speaker and received a standing ovation. Demo would then focus on music and leave his life of crime. He toured Mexico and performed in cities such as Puebla, Valle de Chalco, Ciudad Neza and Mexico City including others. He is an established artist in Chicago, known as one of the most refreshing talents to rise up in the Latino scene.

Obligatory Response, a band consisting of Vince Allen on lead guitar and Maria Diamantis on vocals and electronic sound, blend synthetic noise, guitar riffs and licks, and contra alto whaling to create rhythmic, heavenly chaos . Obligatory Response’s stage presence displays why Vince and Maria not only make a great couple but also a rocking musical duo. Vince, stoic yet comical, is a talented statue behind a guitar wielding rhythms that feed off of the sound patterns emitting from Maria’s amp enriched laptop. I was born and raised in Chicago and for many years raised my three boys in Chicago. For twelve years I was Chicago’s Revenue Director, then Budget Director, then CEO of Chicago’s Public Schools. I care deeply about the people in every corner of Chicago. Chicago is a GREAT city. I love it, you love it, and the tourists who visit by the tens of thousands love it. But living in Chicago is very hard for many and it’s getting much harder. Demographics don’t lie.

I want to be our next Mayor. In the next weeks and months I look forward to laying out my specific thoughts and ideas as well as showing you how and why the current model for our city is failing. I look forward to earning your trust. I believe that without earning your trust I could never be the leader that our city deserves. Nora’s Playlist is where Photographer and Music Lover combine forces and become one! When I decided to create Nora’s Playlist, the purpose was to share with everyone the music I loved and discovered. As a live Music Photographer and Music Enthusiast, I thought it was the perfect combination to create one space for both my passions.

Music is fuel for my veins, every tune, every lyric, makes a daily impact in my life. I always ask people “What’s your favorite band?” “What’s your favorite genre?” As humans, I believe we all connect somehow through music, embracing music and people is my muse. In my experience, initiating conversations with music, is a great way to form relationships, it’s the “Ice Breaker” and actually that’s one of my number one recommendation.
