  • 27 August 2026 Gospel of John Chapters 1–4: Eternal Word, New Birth, and Living Water Technical Thursday
: Gospel of John Chapters 1–4: Eternal Word, New Birth, and Living Water
Dive deep into the opening chapters of the Fourth Gospel with Rocky Stevenson on Technical Thursday. This first session explores the grand theological narrative of the Gospel of John, spanning chapters 1 through 4. Beginning with the high Christology of the eternal Logos in John 1:1–14, we examine Jesus as the eternal Creator God who took on human flesh and dwelt among us as the Lamb of God.
The discussion transitions to Jesus' public ministry and his purposeful "signs" (semeion). We analyze the transformation of water into wine at the wedding in Cana in John 2, signaling the transition from old covenant rituals to new covenant grace. We then unpack Jesus' midnight dialogue with Nicodemus in John 3 regarding the absolute necessity of being born from above by the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit. Finally, we look at Jesus crossing cultural boundaries in John 4 to offer living water to the Samaritan woman at the well.
Every sign and discourse in John funnels directly into its core purpose: that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name (John | 20:30–31). Discover how these foundational passages dismantle superficial religion and call us to true spiritual rebirth.
    Scripture References: John | 1:1–14, John | 1:29, John | 2:1–11, John | 3:3–7, John | 4:13–14, John | 20:30–31, Genesis | 1:1
We invite you to reflect on these profound truths, recognize your spiritual need, and drink deeply from the eternal water Christ freely offers.
