SWAI is a fresh eclectic techno project created by two veterans of the Slovenian electronic music scene and respected members of Clockwork Voltage, Shekuza (Miha Šajina) and BeatMyth (Igor Vuk). They bring decades of experience in music production, songwriting, and live performance — both as DJs, solo live acts, and members of bands. Shekuza is a respected figure in the techno scene, known for his work with modular synthesizers and his role in the alternative band Moveknowledgement. BeatMyth has had a long-standing career as a DJ and producer, releasing acclaimed breakbeat albums with MC N’toko, performing live modular synth sets and has worked extensively in studio environments — recording, mixing, and mastering records for a wide range of other bands and artists.
After years of collaborative garage sessions and hours of recording, the two friends have finalised a cohesive album. But this is no typical techno album with a mesh of DJ tools. It is a comprehensive art piece featuring sophisticated technoid compositions that are beautifully crafted yet hauntingly eerie. Complex textures and tight drum patterns intertwine with the poetic contributions of their friend, Ana Pepelnik, elevating the three tracks into a new genre: techno poetry. Complemented by Lina Rica’s striking cover art, V Drevo emerges as a true work of art.
Swai is an act of the SHAPE+ platform for innovative music and interdisciplinary art, co-funded by the EU and Pro Helvetia.
We are SWAI, an electronic duo from Ljubljana consisting of Igor Vuk and Miha Šajina. For this occasion we prepared an hour long cut up modular live set, edited from the raw recordings of the last two thursdays in August at Mihas studio in Šiška. We have a monthly ritual of syncing our machines and smoking herbs for the last five years and have recorded a block of jams on our drive. This set is no exception, the rules are simple, maintain drive and density and try not to step on each others toes. Sonicly the sources are mainly modular, but also layers of granuar sampling and other synth wizardry. Hope you enjoy the set!
