Today we have an important topic to discuss at Radio RIAC with WUSC Memorial University.

WUSC-MUN teammates Zarin Tasnim and Ahmed Shokr informed us about an upcoming student referendum where undergraduates can vote YES for the Student Refugee Program (SRP).

The SRP will get MUN students to sponsor the education of a refugee youth for a minimum of 1 year. Popular among 92 campuses across Canada, WUSC-MUN hopes to become the 93rd!

Cast your support for the SRP on November 5 & 6 by logging into MUN Self-Service or visiting a MUNSU polling station.

And for Immigration News we have the story of Nuna Toweh, talking about losing her Dad during the war in Liberia. Some happy memories in the refugee camp, racism issues and after everything she is here in Newfoundland.

Jin Chen from Sichuan, China came to Radio RIAC to introduced four songs and he picked one song from his province Sichuan.

What’s Up Local: Starting off we have Carey Majid and her very important work with the Human Rights Commission here in Newfoundland and Labrador. Listen to how people find a voice for their rights here.

Multicultural Music : Music of Colombia/ Bring ‘Em With Us: Food from Jakarta, Indonesia.

For Multicultural Music this week, we go to Colombia with Ángela Viviana Ramírez Luna. This isn’t just Colombia, this is the Pacific Coast of Colombia where many cultural influences merge into a variety of dance-inducing styles.

We also have Bring Em With Us! Our producer Zay Nova brought his friend Shawn Adrian from Jakarta, Indoensia to talk about Soto Betawi, Kerak Telur, and another food originally from Jakarta.
