I was very pleased to speak with the broadcaster Rolf Kalb here at the German Masters. Rolf's contribution to the growth of snooker in Germany is recognised by everybody and it was fascinating to have a conversation with him.

Rolf tells me about how he fell in love with the game, his feelings when the German Masters first came to Berlin and some of his favourite moments from the event. He also talks to me about me why he retired as a Eurosport commentator last year, his role as compere at the Tempodrom and his disappointment at the loss of other tournaments in mainland Europe.

One of the most popular media outlets for German snooker fans is the Total Clearance podcast and I was delighted to speak with one of the presenters, Christian Oehmicke, at the Tempodrom.

Christian talks about his own love of the game, the success of the German Masters and why he wishes there were more tournaments in mainland Europe.

I've had the pleasure and privilege of speaking with one of snooker's truly beloved champions of yesteryear, Cliff Thorburn.

Three-time Masters winner Thorburn shares some of his memories of the event on its 50th birtday after I show him a picture from the first edition in 1975. 

Cliff also pays tribute to two wonderful champions we've lost recently, Ray Reardon and Terry Griffiths.

I've spoken to Shaun Murphy at Alexandra Palace, who watched Mark Selby tease him over his nine darter on television and then told Radio Snooker this: He understands people's scepticism, but he DID make the nine darter and he finds it 'funny how offended' darts people are by it.

Murphy also looks ahead to his Masters quarter-final against Neil Robertson, saying he doesn't quite buy into the theory that this is a free hit for the Australian, who was a late entrant into the tournament.

I'm delighted to say I've spoken to John Parrott at Alexandra Palace. The 1991 world champion talks to me about Alexandra Palace and the long history of the Masters.
