As part of the Holyoke Black Lives Matter at School event, there were three breakout groups focused on creating a mural project, a poster, and a media piece in a podcast format. This is the recording of the podcast conversation with the youth attending this day of learning and community action. A powerful and inspiring session with six teenagers from middle school and high school, all sharing their experiences and thoughts around Black Lives Matter. A MUST LISTEN.

As part of the Holyoke Black Lives Matter at School event, on February 9, 2019, a day of learning and community action, there were presentations by Holyoke High School students from the Ethnic Studies Class, and the Restorative Justice Program, along with a keynote by Whitney Battle-Baptiste, Director of the W.E.B. During the celebration of the 4th Annual Winter Festival at Gateway City Arts, Meagan Murphy offered a speech, followed by a Q&A session, to talk about her experiences making the documentary, her inspiration, and address the concept of body wisdom.

This is an inspiring conversation with Ms. Dana Altshuler, Ethnic Studies Director for Holyoke Public Schools, along with Shania, Kassidy, and Shantel, three students from Holyoke High School, involved in the community event, "Black Lives Matter at School". This is an initiative and collaboration between Holyoke High School and Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School, to bring awareness and conversations that also become a call for action. Holyoke Black Lives Matter at School is scheduled as a community event this Saturday, February 9, 2019, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at El Mercado, 413 Main St. in Holyoke, MA. All are welcome.
