In the early days I worked as an interiors stylist for well-known titles such as Ideal Home and Living Etc, as well as Ikea magazine.
I was thrown in at the deep end, creating anything from kids rooms to kitchens, either on location or in studios, where I'd work closely with set designers. Having to work to such tight deadlines was often daunting, but somehow everything always came together in the end.
I'm always surprised and delighted by the diverse requests I receive - I was approached to style a wedding a while back. I didn't let the fact that I'd never worked as a wedding planner put me off. My brief involved organising the catering, wedding cake, furniture hire, decorations, flowers, favours and of the course the overall look of the day. The result was a simple, beautiful, relaxed affair in a serene white and green colour palette.
As a stylist I wear a lot of hats - dedicated props gatherer, organiser, list writer, box packer, painter and decorator, artist, cleaner, location scout, booker of van drivers + photographers + models, plus kiddie + pet wrangler on shoots.....the list goes on.
Over the last 11 years I’ve been regularly asked to decorate private clients homes, helping them in every aspect of the design process. This involves coming up with mood boards, sourcing furniture, rugs, accessories, lighting, soft furnishings, fabric and paint colours, plus taking my clients on shopping trips to trade showrooms.
I also book + over-see trades, such as tilers, electricians, painters, upholsterers, cabinet makers and kitchen installers. I really enjoy helping people create a home they can be proud of. One of my favourite moments is when a client sees their finished room for the first time.
To date I’ve been in charge of the re-design of living rooms, dining rooms, master bedrooms, kids rooms, hallways, bathrooms, laundries and kitchens in both inner city homes and beach houses.
My aim is to make interior decorating fun, affordable and effortless. I know how good it feels to live in a beautiful home that reflects your style, but I also know that getting there can be over-whelming, time-consuming and expensive.
