Rage Cage

There's lot of things to be thankful for, I hope this radio is one of them on your list. Never thought I'd still be doing this 33 years later, and I'm ever-grateful for the opportunity! It's hard to say how many more years of this life will continue, but all I could tell you, there's no destiny, just journey: how far this will take us. So let us continue our wild journey together, as much as we can. Happy Thanksgiving!

When we lived in Japan during my childhood there, we lived in this apartment in Suma-ward of Kobe city, dubbed "Radio Kansai", because the 2nd floor was actually a radio station. Pretty ironic, considering I would be part of the radio world years later here in Calgary! Back in the summer of 1998, I visited Radio Kansai at their new location in Kobe Port. They were nice enough to give me a tour of the place, ... and lo & behold, they even interviewed me about my "Rage Cage" life in Calgary! I think DJ Kumi, the one who interviewed me, ... I think she really liked me as well! *wink! wink!*

Now, this week: we kicked off the show with a tribute to Conrad Thomas Lant, a.k.a. Cronos, the mastermind behind the legendary VENOM! We wouldn't be enjoying our heavier, more extreme sounds today if it weren't for this man. Rage In Power.

Congrats to the organizers and artists for the very first Stoodis Festival, which took place last weekend. Wishing you all further success in the future. Also, congrats to our very own HELLRAZER for winning the Metal Recording of the Year for "Serve the Machine"! So, now that the summer is officially over, and the leaves are already changing colours (and falling), and perhaps some of us are already thinking ahead to next year. Well, try not to focus too much on the future, so you can enjoy THE moment, ... like, whenever you're tuning-in to the Rage Cage. Enjoy it while you still can, as much as you can.

So much from the Cage this week: look-back to Calgary Metalfest 2016, couple of new releases, re-living '91 with G N' R (I remember those albums flying off the shelves when I worked at HMV back then) and Ozzy, and so much more, all under 3.5 hours! How about that? Also, shoutout to my friends, Scott and Jody, we FINALLY met after years of following each other on social media. You can check them (Black Crow Funk) out this Saturday, 19th, for the first-ever Stoodis Music at MacHall, U of C. I suggest you listen to the episode of The Failed Pilot (from Sept 17, hosted by our AWESOME station manager, Adam!) and checkout their wonderful live performance from the studio!

It was Friday, September 11, 1992: this was when yours truly walked into the old basement suite of CJSW office, and became part of this radio family! Never thought I would be part of this for more than 30 years, and going batshit crazy with the Rage Cage (since Jan., '93) while crankin' up heavy tunes every week. Lot of it has to do with dedicated ragers, like YOU! Thank you for giving me the reason to go insane every week! Love you all!

After all these decades in Canada, can't believe I haven't visited Ottawa, until now. Thanks for the lovely hospitality, Ottawa, and Happy 200th! Still a bit jet-lagged, ... yes, even after just 4 hours of flight, ... I'm old. Taking a more "laid-back" approach this week, but still, plenty of heavy tunes, 'cos it's still the RAGE CAGE afterall! Lastly, R.I.P. Frank Beard.
