Ragman’s Harbour

We're back with another episode discussing gender, gender nonconformity, gender norms and more! In this episode we manage to compare another medieval saint to Brienne of Tarth, discuss masculinity norms in relation to clothing in ASOIAF compared to the real world, and talk a fair bit about gender norms in different cultures (both within ASOIAF and without).

We joined our friends at the Garde de Nuit (French Night's Watch association), as well as Javi Marcos from Los Siete Reinos (Spain) to talk about the best thing we've seen and experienced in forever: the Mad King play at Stratford-upon-Avon.

This was originally a livestream, so apologies for the unedited discussion -but we give you all you may dream to hear if you're interested in theatrics, props, puppets, the plot, canon, costumes, etc.

Yes, it is late. But I was busy Englanding and MadKingling, and then being sleep deprived and having to work and stuff. Rude.

But! Criston Cole may be dead, he is more alive than ever in my and Gwayne Hightower's heart. They were, after all, very good friends <3

I'll have seen the season finale in a bit, I'm sure I'll have a lot of comments.

As ever, let us know what you think 🖤

I'm sad. But certainly not defeated: the show gave my Sweet Knight the best death scene possible, the cinematography was incredible, the dialogues excellent, the acting superb...

There will be more episodes to cover the rest of the season, of course: Criston Cole is dead but not forgotten ❤️‍🔥

We're back with another Harbour reader episode, this time discussing the Stark kids and what we think their future might bring! Will Jon be King in the North? Will Sansa be Queen in the North? Will Arya ride off into the sunset? Will Rickon die due to lack of zig-zagging? And will Bran create the Westerosi EU?

If you want to learn more about what Lo was talking about regarding sexuality education and disability rights, here are some of the articles they referenced in their recent grant application:

“A thin line between consent and abuse - Reflections on sexual experiences among Swedish young adults with intellectual disabilities” - Anna Hart, Charlotta Löfgren, Charlotta Carlström & Eva Elmerstig.

“"Maybe rape is illegal?" how adolescents with intellectual disabilities experience a sexual violence prevention intervention” - Sofia Gjertsson, Anna Sarkadi & Anna Fäldt.

“Fråga, lyssna och förstå - Om att motverka våld mot barn och unga med funktionsnedsättning” - Myndigheten för delaktighet (The Swedish Agency for Participation)

Lo also wrote about this topic in their essay "Hodor - a study of disability and sexuality".

Baby boy is doing guerrilla warfare! and his identity crisis is solved: he's going to be himself, Criston of House Cole, and no one's servant! Yay to a good and efficient art therapy!

Baby boy decides to go full Dornish guerrilla style -and I'm here for it! 🥰

Did you really think I wouldn't find something to say?

Feast/ Dance have taught me one thing: there is always something to say <3

Are you really surprised if I tell you this one is about the patriarchy?

And Alicent's sex life? And Criston Cole being skilled?

Surprise! Here is an episode about the first episode of HotD season 3. We're not covering this season episode by episode (like we did with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), except for Virginie's Sweet Knight Report. But we figured we'd do an episode about episode 1, and what we're looking forward this season.

We will definitely do a wrap-up episode after the season is done though! And later this summer, we'll also hit you with an episode about "The Mad King" play that we're seeing live in England in August. So stick around for that!

Tell your friends about us and leave us a flurry of stars and a review wherever you listen to this episode. <3
