A sad week for cricket as we lost Shane Warne

The United States of America isn’t the first place that comes to mind when we think of cricket, but, as we explore in this very special episode, it’s time to start paying attention to the sport’s development across the pond. 

The U.S. has been chosen as a co-host of the 2024 Cricket World Cup, while USA Cricket, the sport’s domestic governing body, has sanctioned Major League Cricket: a new T20 franchise league that aims to bring the best players in the world to the country’s shores. Even the USA Men’s national team is generating excitement: shocking Ireland by beating the tourists in a T20I match in December 2021. Surely the signs for cricket’s growth are looking promising? 

Five expert guests join the podcast to help us work out if this really is a watershed moment for cricket in the U.S., or whether all this progress might be yet another false dawn.

With the Women's Ashes producing one of the best Test matches we can remember, we ask whether women's tests need a fifth day, how good is Heather Knight and can England win the ODIs to finally claim an Ashes down under?
